Day 2 ARL Service Academy
Tuesday, March 17, 2009 Happy St. Patrick's Day from NOLA. Continuing to learn the joys of statistics including the four classes of stats and how you can use them to tell your story. Learned all about Location/Central Tendencies, Dispersion or Spreadoutness (such as Variance, Range, Sum of Squares, and the granddaddy of them all - Standard Deviation), Shape (such as symmetry and the coefficient of Kurtosis), and Relationship Statistics (such as Pearson's r or Spearman's rho). Spent time discussing how these relate to Library Services. Finally spent time working with the graphing capabilities of SPSS to create some very impressive graphs. Good stuff.
